Meet Elle

Lauren Nicole, affectionately known as "Elle", grew up in suburban Washington, DC. Her life growing up in the shadow of the Nation’s Capital was key in molding an urban, cosmopolitan sensibility that is evident in the faces of the clients who grace the pages of her current website. These models definitively illustrate the gift that Lauren has. This metropolitan energy infuses her work and translates itself vividly into the individuals who seek out Lauren and her expertise for bringing out the best in those whom she services.

Preparation for what would become her ultimate career choice began early in her life. Even in middle school and junior high, she was toying with make up, creating looks for her peers using techniques sophisticated by any standard, but especially for a teen. By high school, her focus was clear enough that she divided her time between a rigorous college prep curriculum and a vocational school in order to begin to study the craft of beauty more seriously. Lauren was a regular at the MAC counter long before her peers knew to ask for a particular make up brand. A psychology major in college, rather than dropping out to pursue a career in make up before she graduated, Lauren determined to use her academic preparation to support her dream. Psychology has become a means by which she is able to “counsel beauty “in her clients. She firmly believes that being beautiful on the outside is important for women to be the best that they can be in all areas of their lives. She absolutely understands the psychology of making up a face. The bride whose glowing face is “beat,” as some might say, is reflecting the riotous joy that consumes her on that happiest day of her life. The prom for a high school student provides a glimpse into the beauty to be beheld as that young woman enters into her future. Even the junior high schooler whose mom has the wisdom to allow a pro like Lauren to add just a touch of color to the lips and cheeks is all aglow when she sees herself looking back at herself in the mirror.

An accomplished singer herself, who has performed with singing groups at venues including the Kennedy Center and Madison Square Garden, this lady knows of what she speaks when she creates, always taking care to study the professionals, especially the make up artists, who have surrounded her, never failing to ask questions and position herself to learn from every person willing to teach. She has further augmented her ability by studying under some of the top professional make up artists in the country, having taken courses in New York City and Washington, DC. She has also worked for several luxury brands, including Armani & Yves St. Laurent.

Lauren’s vision of “the look” is instinctive, and it is this vision that draws her clients to her on repeated occasions. These clients have included radio personalities, award winning singers, and BET executives. She worked on a DeBeers Diamonds show at the Smithsonian and has also worked with models during DC Fashion Week, including one cover model for this event featured in On Tap Magazine in 2009.
